Assistant Accountant (Real Estate & Leasing)
Job summary
Are you an accountant with hands-on experience in real estate, property management, and leasing operations? We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our client's team and play a key role in supporting financial operations while managing tenant accounts, rent administration, lease records, and credit control.

Job description & requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Manage tenant accounts, ensuring timely billing of rent, service charges, and other property-related charges.
- Prepare tenant statements and actively follow up on outstanding balances to minimize rent arrears.
- Support rent collection and debt recovery processes.
- Maintain accurate lease records, including lease commencements, renewals, rent reviews, and lease expiries.
- Reconcile tenant deposits, rental income, occupancy reports, and related financial records.
- Process financial transactions including receipts, payments, invoices, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and support budgeting, forecasting, and statutory compliance.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and support internal and external audits.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- CPA Part II or above is mandatory.
- Minimum 2 years' accounting experience, preferably in a real estate, property management, or leasing environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of leasing processes, tenant account management, rent administration, property accounting, and credit control.
- Strong understanding of Kenyan tax and statutory compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
