Summary:

Looking for a finance job in Kenya? Nyahururu Water and Sanitation Company is hiring a Finance Officer to maintain effective internal controls and ensure adherence to financial policies. The role is based in Nyahururu and a membership to the Institute of ICPAK is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed assets.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax laws and water sector regulations.
• Coordinate annual external audits and facilitate internal audit processes.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial performance reports.
• Monitor cash flow and recommend strategies to optimize financial resources.
• Reconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts.
• Maintain effective internal controls and ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.
• Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to improve operational efficiency and financial performance.
• Oversee financial reporting for capital projects, grants, and donor-funded programs where applicable.
• Support procurement, inventory, and asset management through financial oversight.
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff and support their professional development.
• Perform any other related duties as delegated by Finance Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any other related field.
• Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent.
• Membership to the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and be of good standing.
• At least five (5) years of progressive accounting experience with three (3) years in supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), taxation, and financial management practices.
• Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems, QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
