Job Purpose

The Sales Consultant will support the growth of the General Trade channel by strengthening sales strategy execution, optimizing sales force structures, improving distributor performance, and enhancing sales reporting and accountability. The consultant will provide practical recommendations and support implementation to drive revenue growth, market expansion, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Execution

• Assess current General Trade performance and route-to-market effectiveness.
• Develop and support execution of sales growth strategies.
• Identify opportunities for market expansion, outlet growth, and increased sales volumes.
• Support trade activations, promotions, and customer acquisition initiatives.
• Monitor implementation of sales plans and recommend corrective actions.

Staffing & Sales Force Effectiveness

• Review sales team structure, staffing levels, and productivity.
• Recommend optimal sales force deployment and territory allocation.
• Support recruitment planning and workforce capacity development.
• Develop performance management frameworks, KPIs, and incentive recommendations.
• Identify training and coaching needs for sales teams.

Distributor Management

• Evaluate distributor performance and market coverage.
• Recommend improvements in distributor effectiveness and accountability.
• Support expansion and optimization of the distribution network.
• Strengthen customer and trade partner relationships.

Reporting & Performance Management

• Develop sales dashboards and reporting tools.
• Analyze sales trends, territory performance, and market opportunities.
• Establish sales forecasting and performance tracking mechanisms.
• Prepare management reports highlighting achievements, risks, and recommendations.

Key  Requirements &** **Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum five (5) years’ consultancy experience in FMCG sales within Kenya.
• Proven experience in sales strategy execution, staffing optimisation, distributor management, and performance reporting.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable sales growth and commercial improvements.
• Must be able to communicate clearly and persuasively with senior management, sales teams, distributors, and other stakeholders.
• Must be able to demonstrate strong leadership and influence without direct authority in consultancy environments.
• Must be able to build and maintain effective working relationships across diverse teams and organizational levels.
• Must be able to think strategically while remaining practical and solution-oriented in execution.
• Must be able to adapt quickly to changing business environments and shifting commercial priorities.
• Must be able to demonstrate strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills in complex commercial settings.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high accountability for outcomes.
